Important! U.S. Government Entry Requirement for Visa Waiver Program
(VWP) Countries: Effective January 20, 2010 citizens of Visa Waiver countries will be unable
to enter the United States without Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA)
approval from the U.S. Government. VWP travelers who have not obtained approval through
ESTA will be denied boarding on any air carrier destined for the U.S.

Visa Information
If you are not a U.S. citizen and plan to attend the Annual Meeting, advanced planning is critical. You should begin the process to apply for a U.S. visa 90 days before your anticipated travel date. Additional information regarding the process for obtaining a U.S. visa can be found on ASCO’s website. After you have completed the process to register for the Annual Meeting, ASCO will issue you a letter that you may submit with your visa application.

Once you arrive at the Meeting, be sure to visit the International Assistance Desk located in Concierge Services (North Building, Grand Concourse Lobby). A representative from the International Affairs Department will be available along with language interpreters.
Services available at the International Assistance Desk include:
- Language interpretation (French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish)
- Information about International Sessions at the Annual Meeting
- Information about ASCO international activities (including education programs, grants, and membership information)
- Information about Chicago, the Annual Meeting, and travel
Additional Resources and Travel Information
ASCO is working with the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) to improve international attendees’ experience when they arrive at O’Hare International Airport for the 2012 ASCO Annual Meeting. The CDA and its airport partners plan to increase staff to shorten Customs lines and cut wait times. Read this letter detailing the CDA’s progress and commitment to customer service.
